Helpful Logic tips. (Bandwagon)

A bandwagon is a type of propaganda.  It is often used by teenagers who want to do what everybody else is doing, although it is used by others as well.  Fill in the blank. (Politicians, Salesmen,___________)  A bandwagon is pretty much the same thing as peer pressure.

Why shouldn't you use bandwagons?  The problem with bandwagons is that it can make something look good whereas it is really bad.  It might not even be bad, it just wouldn't be a good idea, like jumping off a cliff headfirst even if all your friends are doing it.

Examples:  My family saw that everybody was watching Frozen and everybody seemed to like it so we decided to as well.  According to my parents it is a very cheesy movie.  The only reason we watched Frozen was because everyone else was and if the movie had been a zombie movie or something else that we wouldn't have wanted to watch we would have seen it just because it seemed like everyone else liked it.

"That" $1,000 purse
Sara: "I want to buy that purse."
Dad:  "Why?"

Sara: "All my friends are."
Why shouldn't Sara buy the purse?  Just because all Sara's friends are buying the purse doesn't mean she should too.  It would probably put her in debt and the only reason she is buying it is because all her friends are.

Traps, Traps and More Traps

The judges were setting traps for Joan like crazy, but she hadn't fallen for them, yet.  They asked about her voices, meaning to set a trap for her in some way.
"Did you see angels?" the head judge asked.  "I did." came the reply.
"Who were the angels?" She answered, "St. Margaret and St. Catherine."
"Did they wear any jewelry?"  This question was so irreverent and preposterous to Joan that she didn't answer.
"How did you know who they were?" They asked, and she answered, "Because they told me."
"Why did you wear male attire in battle and did your voices say to do it?"  "Yes," she answered, "I wore the armor because they told me to and I knew it must be right."
   Finally the judges gave up.

The Woolly Lamb

Grant was in bed one night when a voice in his mind reminded him that Thomas Moore lived only six years of his life in the York dynasty and the rest of his life in the Lancaster dynasty.  The problem with this is that Richard III was from the house of York and was the last of that house until the Lancastrians won the battle of Bosworth.  Thomas Moore had written of Richard as if he knew for a fact everything that he wrote, while he was only writing from hear-say.  This infuriated Grant and he threw Thomas Moore's book on the ground until he realized that he was borrowing it.

The next day Marta came to visit Grant.  As they were talking she remembered something about a woolly lamb and said goodbye to Grant and left, telling him she had a surprise for him.

Later that afternoon a young man came in with a head of thick curly hair, an overcoat that was much too big, long legs and a pair of glasses.  He reminded Grant of a lamb and the glasses seemed to add to the affect instead of taking away from it.   Grant told him to sit down and the man, Marta's woolly lamb, and Grant started talking.  The man told Grant that he was working at the library and that there he was studying Richard II.  Grant asked him if he knew anything about Richard III, but all he knew was that two men, nicknamed the Cat and the Rat had killed Richard's nephews under Richard's direction.  He did know of a book though that had more about Richard III and he said he could get it for Grant.

The Seasons

Spring is a time to have fun without measure
Time for all men to be working with pleasure.
Robins are eating the worms with great gusto.
Being outside for the kids is a must-o!

Summer's the time to be at the seaside
Staying in water so you don't get fried
Playing outside in the grass is so fun
It is so hot that you don't want to run.

Fall is the time to have fireside camp-outs.
Falling off bikes and you have a big wipe-out!
Leaves are all falling so pile them all.
I think that fall is the best of them all!
